And, after missing Juventus’ defeat to Sampdoria on Sunday because he wasn’t emotionally stable enough, it’s the small matter of Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Ahead of that mouthwatering clash in Turin, Buffon took part in an interview with Barca legend Andres Iniesta.

The 39-year-old was asked a number of intriguing questions, including if he had ever considered playing in another position.

Italy and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon received his own fair share of nominations last nightBuffon wasn’t always a goalkeeperEPA

Buffon admits he played as a midfielder until he was 12 years old – but was inspired to become a goalkeeper after watching the 1990 World Cup.

“It was my father’s advice and encouragement too.

“He’d watch me play a few times in goal and say: ‘You’re not bad at all!'”
